Houston Dynamo will not purchase Thiaguinho from Flamengo

One of Flamengo’s more talented youngsters, Thiaguinho, was loaned to Major League Soccer outfit Houston Dynamo until the end of 2022 earlier this year.

However, the American club terminated the contract with the 21-year-old Brazilian striker, who will return to Flamengo after just seven months.

The move does not come as a surprise, as Thiaguinho only made three MLS appearances totaling 18 minutes, also making two U.S. Open Cup starts and six appearances for their MLS Next Pro outfit Houston Dynamo 2.

Thiaguinho, who is under contract in Rio until 2025, could have been purchased by the Dynamo for $1.5m (R$8m).

It’s worth remembering that Flamengo purchased the player from Náutico in 2019 for R$7m, a club-record incoming fee for the Serie B outfit.
