Following their top six finish in the Championship last season, Luton Town are looking to strengthen their squad this summer in a bid to crack the second tier play-offs once again in 2022-23.

Nathan Jones has already got to work with that following the disappointment of losing the versatile Kal Naismith, and he’s proving that his team mean business going into the new campaign.

Towering goalkeeper Matt Macey, young midfielder Louie Watson and speedy left-sider Alfie Doughty have also all joined Jones’ squad at Kenilworth Road, but what else has happened on the transfer front over the weekend? Let’s take a look.

Luton have now completely sorted out their goalkeeping department with the arrival of Nottingham Forest stopper Ethan Horvath over the weekend.

Due to James Shea’s serious knee injury in April and Simon Sluga’s January departure to Ludogorets, Jones needed to make moves for goalkeepers, and he now has strong competition with Macey and Horvath.

USA international Horvath, who has eight caps to his name, joins the Hatters on a loan deal until the end of the 2022-23 season and will now battle with Macey to be first-choice at Kenilworth Road.

Horvath featured just 11 times in all competitions for Forest last season, and will be aiming for more first-team football in the coming campaign.

Hatters have Rudoni on shortlist

One player who is wanted by a plethora of Championship outfits is AFC Wimbledon attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni – and Luton have now been added to the list of suitors.

The 21-year-old scored 12 times in League One last season as the Dons were relegated, and now clubs are hoping to snap him up for a cut-price fee.

Huddersfield and Sunderland are said to have had £500,000 offers rejected for Rudoni, but Luton could perhaps come in and gazump them both.

Having become a free agent following his Aston Villa contract expiring, Conor Hourihane has found himself wanted by several EFL clubs this summer.

Derby County, now a League One club, are making an ambitious play for the Republic of Ireland international’s services, but they are being joined by both Huddersfield Town and also Luton, according to the Daily Mail.

The 31-year-old featured 30 times in the Championship for Sheffield United on loan last season, but Luton’s pursuit could perhaps be lessened now due to the fact they’ve just signed Luke Freeman, who was also previously with the Blades.
