Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes Manchester United will never win any silverware if they continue to rely on Ramsus Hojlund.
The Danish striker cost the club a whopping £72 million when he made the move from Atalanta in the summer of 2023. However, the 22-year-old has failed to justify this figure as he couldn’t quite replicate the promise he showed during his time in Bergamo.
Hojlund had his moments last season under Erik ten Hag, so many fans were hopeful of seeing him develop his attributes and fulfill his initial promise. However, it has been quite the opposite since the arrival of Ruben Amorim. The Denmark international has in fact regressed, as evidenced by his ongoing 18-match drought.

Therefore, McCoist insists that United have no hope of winning the Europa League, or any other trophy for that matter, with the former Atalanta man leading their line.
“I’m not sure they’ll go to the next round. Not on this form,” said the 69-year-old during his appearance on TalkSport.
“Bruno Fernandes is the one player who turns up, you know, he’ll give you a goal, he’ll give you a freekick, he’ll give you something.
“But apart from that… I thought his goal in the weekend was a brilliant strike, I mean it was a tremendous goal, but he’s the only one. If you need something, there’s no one else. Hojlund sadly looks lost, it’s horrible.”
For his part, Jeff Stelling, who described Man Utd as ‘so poor’ based on their FA Cup display against Fulham, noted that the Reds will have to rely on Rasmus or Joshua Zirkzee on Thursday against Real Sociedad after failing to register Chido Obi-Martin.
Therefore, Stelling and McCoist agreed the team is doomed, partially due to their weak attacking options.
