Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite has insisted that he has fantastic chemistry with James Tarkowski and admitted that he wants to keep his place alongside the defender.
The England international was heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park in the most recent transfer window but the Toffees were able to keep hold of him.
However, Branthwaite suffered a groin injury and only played his first league game of the season at the weekend against Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old insists that he built a synchronisation with his team-mate Tarkowski last season and stressed they help each other out when they are not in position.
Branthwaite played the full 90 minutes against the Eagles and he made it clear he wants to keep his partnership with Tarkowski going.
“I think me and Tarky have got a good partnership together”, the Everton star man told his club’s in-house media about Tarkowski.
“We help each other out, and I think that’s a big part of a centre-back partnership – to be there for one another when someone’s out of position, to work in sync really and I think over the last season we developed that.
“Hopefully now I’m back in the team I can keep that going with him.”
Branthwaite will be hoping to keep his starting spot, partnering with Tarkwoski this weekend, when the Toffees host Newcastle United.
