The Owls are one of the form teams in the division and have quickly become favourites to win promotion automatically owing to poor form from Ipswich Town and Plymouth’s injury problems.

Darren Moore has lost players himself, with Alex Mighten and Mark McGuinness both being recalled by their parent clubs in January respectively. Aden Flint was brought in, adding experience to the backline which should help in their pushback to the Championship.

Plymouth hasn’t shown signs of slowing down though, as they remain hot on the heels of their Yorkshire counterparts despite a loss at the weekend to the Owls.

With that game fresh in the memory, we asked FLW’s Owls fan pundit Callum his opinion on whether Plymouth could maintain their automatic promotion push.

Callum said: “Plymouth are one of the best sides I’ve seen at Hillsborough this season. The win against them on Saturday was very important and it’s hard with Derby being in a better run of form at the minute.

“They’re going to continue that run of form with the fixtures they have so it’s between Plymouth and Derby for the top two at the moment. But I think Plymouth have enough to stay in the top two, hopefully not at our expense.

“Hopefully we can go onto win the league, but I think they have what it takes. Obviously, they’ve lost Mike Cooper for the season which is a massive blow so we’ll have to wait and see on that, but I think they should stay in the top two.”
