It has been a memorable week for Jude Bellingham as he helped Real Madrid defeat Manchester City and Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League and La Liga, respectively.

It was followed by a special accolade for the 20-year-old as he won the Laureus World Sports Award for the Breakthrough of the Year for 2024 on Monday.

The England international has enjoyed a spectacular debut season in Spain since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2024.

Now seen as one of the talismanic figures for Real Madrid, Bellingham has already won the Spanish Super Cup this season, and is on track to lift the La Liga title while the Champions League is also within the grasp.

But the youngster dreams of achieving more success with Real Madrid and the England national team.

“I’m exhausted but I’m also happy with what I’m experiencing and I hope to keep creating more memories at Real Madrid,” he said at a press conference after winning the award.

“I also hope to win more trophies because this season we are still in with a chance of winning with my club and with England, but that takes a lot of hard work and a lot of sacrifice,” Bellingham added.

“Being surrounded by inspirational people has been really exciting for me,” Bellingham further remarked, having already won the Golden Boy and the Kopa Trophy honours this season.

The England international also spoke about the responsibility he feels as a sportsman to show good behaviour both on and off the pitch.

“It’s important for sportsmen to enjoy these sports. When you are popular you have to have a responsibility to the next generation. I take it seriously, but I want to help people when I can because other people have given me the opportunity before,” he concluded.
