Yuri Ribeiro has admitted that he is set to leave Nottingham Forest when his contract runs out next month.

Ribeiro is one of seven players out of contract at the City Ground this summer, as Chris Hughton looks to rebuild his squad after a disappointing campaign.

The left-back was a key player under Sabri Lamouchi last season, making 27 Championship appearances as Forest narrowly missed out on a play-off finish.

This season, he has made 25 appearances in the Championship amid competition from the likes of Tyler Blackett and Gaetan Bong.

But he has been unable to make a real impact under Hughton, and posted what looked to be a farewell message to fans on Twitter last week.

Ribeiro has now spoken to TVI24 regarding his City Ground future, saying: “(My contract) will end in a month and a half and I will not continue, I think. I need other challenges.

“I feel that Forest can return to the Premier League, it has conditions for that, but there are things to fix.

“I miss home, mainly because we are going through this pandemic. This was the year that had the most players returning to Portugal. It is a determining aspect.

“I will be happy to return to Portugal, but I feel that I can do different things abroad. I am prepared for everything and welcome good invitations.”

Ribeiro established himself as a fans’ favourite under Lamouchi last season, and supporters are sad to see him leave this summer.
