La Plata, Argentina – Honduras completed their time in the 2023 FIFA Under-20 Men’s World Cup in Argentina with a 3-1 defeat to France in their Group F finale on Sunday evening at the Estadio Unico Diego Armando Maradona in La Plata.

Honduras would enjoy a dream start, as things broke their way early, beginning with a red card for France in the 13’ when Ousmane Camara was sent off. The Catrachos promptly took advantage and grabbed a 1-0 lead on Odin Ramos’ perfectly executed free kick.

Honduras sought a second to add to their advantage, but France wrestled away the momentum on a right-footed strike from Alan Virginius in the 41’ to make it 1-1.

Virginius then struck for his second of the night in the 60’ with a near-post header off a cross from the right to hand France a 2-1 lead.

Honduras pushed to get back on level terms, but France would nail down the victory in the 77’ courtesy of Felix Nzouango, whose bouncing header snuck into the top left cornet of net to complete the 3-1 scoreline.
