Cuba vs. Suriname

The day in Group B begins with Cuba and Suriname squaring off at the Estadio Antonio Maceo in Santiago de Cuba.

Both teams picked up a point in their opening matches. Cuba battled to a 0-0 draw at Haiti, while Suriname struck late to earn a 1-1 draw at Grenada.

The last five meetings between the teams have almost all belonged to Cuba, with four victories and a draw, the last win coming in a World Cup qualifier in 2012.

Cuba were excellent defensively in keeping a dangerous Haiti attack at bay, while Suriname got their goal from Mitchell Te Vrede. Cuba’s Luis Paradela will be the main attacking threat going forward, while Te Vrede, Gleofilo Vlijter and Shaquille Cairo are the ones to watch for Suriname.

Jamaica vs. Haiti

A pair of Caribbean sides will meet at Independence Park in Kingston as Jamaica host Haiti.

Demarai Gray was the difference-maker in Jamaica’s opening 1-0 win at home against Honduras with a second half strike, lifting Jamaica to the top of the group with three points.

The Reggae Boyz will now play their second straight home contest against a Haiti team that played to a 0-0 home draw against Cuba.

In the last 12 matches between the two sides, Jamaica have only lost once; that came in a World Cup Qualifier in a 2-0 Haiti win. Otherwise, it’s nine wins for Jamaica and two draws, with the Reggae Boyz outscoring Les Grenadiers 21-7.

In addition to Gray, Bobby Reid and Leon Bailey provided danger for the hosts, as did promising youngster Jujuan Richards, with a shot off the post.

Haiti will look to ramp up their offensive production after getting good performances from Mondy Prunier (4 shots) and Derrick Etienne (2 shots).

Honduras vs. Grenada

The night then wraps up with Honduras hosting Grenada at the Estadio Nacional Chelato Ucles in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Honduras will only have three points on their mind after suffering an opening 1-0 defeat to Jamaica. The Catrachos certainly had their chances in that affair, but were never able to find the breakthrough.

Being back at home in Tegucigalpa should provide a lift and it would not be a surprise if the likes of dynamic midfield duo Alexander Lopez and Edwin Rodriguez and FW Jorge Benguche see significant minutes after coming off the bench against Jamaica.

Honduras have won all three previous affairs with the Spice Boyz, including a 4-0 triumph in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Grenada come into the contest after a 1-1 home draw with Suriname. Grenada had scored late to take a 1-0 lead through Saydrel Lewis, but conceded an equalizer less than two minutes later to settle for a point.
