Final league home match of 2023 v WAC

Plenty of cultured folk in Austria speak about The Three B’s, by which they mean classical greats Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms. There is another trio currently exciting WAC fans, however. Mohamed Bamba, Augustine Boakye and Thierno Ballo are in the thick of their side's great run.

Wolfsberg's answer to Bach & Co have contributed to 16 of their 23 ADMIRAL Bundesliga goals so far this season - making them far and away the most effective attackers at their side. Three wins in a row have moved Manfred Schmid's boys ahead of the Viennese clubs in the table as they make a strong claim for the champions group when the league is divided shortly after the winter break.

Gerhard Struber's meeting with WAC is sure to be a fond one. Our coach was in the visitors' dugout in 2019/20 and had quite the impact over 14 league matches - his 57% winning rate is unsurpassed as well as his average goals before and against of 2.4 and 1.1. The 4-0 victory in Mönchengladbach under the Salzburg man is probably the greatest European result in the club's history.

We have won all of our past seven ADMIRAL Bundesliga clashes with the Wolves, while our boys have scored in every one of our past 21 home meetings. We haven't achieved such a successful scoring run against any other team in the Austrian top flight since three points for a win was introduced in Austria.

Views

It will be extremely important to put our full energy and focus on the WAC match. We need to be alert to what we need to do to beat very strong and solid opponents who have taken good results recently. From that point of view, it is very important to return to the Bundesliga with all our power.

I think that it's about us first and foremost in how we deal with WAC on Saturday. We need to leave the Champions League match at Real Sociedad behind us and regenerate as well as we can physically and mentally, so that we can do as well as we can in the final Bundesliga home match of the year. We are determined to get three points.
