According to Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg, Holstein Kiel are interested in Jann-Fiete Arp. The 2.Bundesliga outfit are eyeing a loan move for the Bayern Munich outcast, who is tipped to leave the club in the summer. Kiel are not the only club interested in the forward, however, with the player’s agent engaged in talks with several other second division clubs.

Fiete Arp’s Struggles At Bayern Munich

Jann-Fiete Arp joined Bayern Munich in 2019 when the attacker was regarded as the next big thing in German football. He was brought in a year after Hamburger SV’s relegation for a fee of just €3 million.

Unfortunately, things have since gone downhill for the young forward. He has failed to announce himself at Bayern Munich, struggling to earn the trust of the first-team coaches. It has led to the youngster mostly playing for the reserve side. In fact, Arp has notched up 42 appearances for FC Bayern II during his two years at the club scoring just eight goals in 3.Liga.

As far as the first-team is concerned, Arp has only made one competitive appearance, when he came on as a substitute in the 3-0 win over FC Duren in the DFB Pokal this past season. Following Bayern II’s relegation to the Regionalliga, however, the Bavarians are now keen on offloading him in the summer as they look to rebuild the young side.

Does Fiete Arp Have Any Future At Bayern?

After struggling to perform even in the third division of German football, Jann Fiete Arp is not deemed good enough for the Bayern Munich first-team. While the youngster is certainly not a bad option for the reserve side, his €3 million per year salary is too expensive for a fourth division player.

Not to mention, Bayern Munich have already extended Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s contract, as the former PSG attacker continues to become Robert Lewandowski’s number one alternative.

A move away from Bavaria, therefore, seems like the best option for Fiete Arp. The youngster, despite his struggles, can still revive his career if he finds himself a suitable manager who can help him hone his skills.

Holstein Kiel could be an excellent option given the success they have had over the past 12 months. Ole Werner has built a solid reputation for his ability to rejuvenate fringe youth players like Jonas Meffert, Janni Luca Serra and Fabian Reese – making Kiel an attractive destination for Arp next season.
