They say game recognises game, and AFC Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke got a huge ringing endorsement this week.

Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan – star of movies such as Black Panther and Creed – became a minority investor in the Cherries following Michael Foley’s takeover of the club in 2022.

Jordan has been spotted in the stands at the Vitality Stadium in the years since, and this year he even designed special edition kits for the club’s pre-season trip to the United States.

And when it came to deciding whose name he would get on the back of his self-designed jersey, it seemed to be a simple choice.

Solanke scored 21 goals in 42 games for Bournemouth last season, and looks set to lead the line for Andoni Iraola’s side again in 2024/25.

The Cherries are next in action when they take on Iraola’s former club Rayo Vallecano at the Vitality Stadium on 4 August.
