The Dane completed parts of team training on Wednesday, as Kristensen continued his rehab, a trio worked individually and the U18s took over in Frankfurt.
In the absence of the international players, Fousseny Doumbia, Benjamin Dzanovica, Melvin Hellmann, Kaan İnanoğlu, Nilo Neuendorff, Maurice Spahn, Marcel Wenig and Alexander Staff completed the first-team pool for session two of three in this shortened training week.
Alongside the youngsters, veterans like Timothy Chandler and Mario Götze threw themselves into the thorough athletic and sprinting drills. Meanwhile, there was no holding back Oscar Højlund, who was quite literally taking his next steps in team training following his metatarsal fracture.
Compatriot Rasmus Kristensen isn’t at that stage yet as he continues his rehab from his thigh injury. Krisztián Lisztes spent the first half-hour on the pitch before working individually, as did Jens Grahl and Hugo Larsson.
There’ll be one more shift on Thursday before the players who have stayed in Frankfurt get to enjoy a long weekend. Head coach Dino Toppmöller and his team will then recall the squad for the next training session on Tuesday next week.
