The DFB have announced the winners and runners-up of the 2024 Fritz Walter medals in the under-19 and under-17 categories.

The under-19 category was won by Hoffenheim’s Tom BIshcof. The midfield has become somewhat of a regular for Hoffenheim this season featuring six times for the side across the Bundesliga and Europa League.

In second place is Wolfsburg striker Dzenan Pejcinovic who is on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf. The 19-year-old is currently injured but had a dominant 2023/24 in the youth leagues scrogin 31 times in 21 games for the under-19s before also scoring twice in three games for the under-21s.

In third place is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Elias Baum, who is currently on loan at 2.Bundesliga Elversberg. The 18-year-old made several cameos for Die Adler at the back end of last season and has been a regular for Elversberg since.

The winner of the under-17 award is Bayer Leverkusen’s Francis Onyeka. The 17-year-old has already featured for the first team in their title-winning season, in 12 games this season the attacking midfielder has five goals and one assist. He was also recently included in The Guardian’s Next Gen series.

In second place is Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Kilian Sauck, the midfielder is a regular for Gladbach’s youth team and has two goals and four assists in six games this season. The 17-year-old, if he reaches his potential, is expected to be a big player for Gladbach in the future.

Finally, Hertha Berlin’s Boris Mamuzah Lum is in third place. Hertha has a very good academy and Mamuzah Lum looks like he could be the next to break into the first team. The 17-year-old has already made an appearance in the 2.Bundesliga this season and is a regular in the Regionalliga Nordost for Die Alte Dame.
