According to Florian Plettenberg, Hoffenheim are close to agreeing on a deal to sign FC Viktoria Plzeň centre-back Robin Hranac.
It has previously been reported that Hoffenheim have been looking to bolster their defensive roster this summer due to a number of injuries plaguing their key defenders.
With Kevin Akpoguma currently the only senior centre-back injury-free at the club, it is little surprise that Pellegrino Matarazzo is looking to add depth to his backline.
While Hoffenheim had attempted to sign Oumar Solet from RB Salzburg, Armel Bella-Kotchap from Southampton, and Étienne Youte Kinkoue from Le Havre, all three deals collapsed in the final stages.
Nevertheless, Die Kraichgauer have agreed to pay Viktoria Plzeň €8–9 million for Hranac, as they look to finally get a defensive signing over the line.
It is understood that the 24-year-old is expected to travel to Germany in the next 24 hours to undergo his medical in order to complete the deal.
