As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Hoffenheim have agreed on a deal to sign Schalke striker Marius Bülter.

Hoffenheim have shown an interest towards Bülter for some time now, however, they had been unable to meet a valuation with Die Königsblauen. Nevertheless, an agreement has finally been reached in what can be regarded as a great deal for Bülter and both clubs.

Schalke will receive €3m up front for the 30-year-old, while they could possibly earn a further €1m in performance-based add-ons. It will be a welcomed source of income for Schalke, who have currently spent over €3m on transfers this summer – which is more than any 2. Bundesliga club thus far.

During his two-year spell with the Royal Blues, Bülter featured 69 times and scored 23 goals while collecting 14 assists. A haul of 11 league goals last campaign would see him end the season as Schalke’s top goalscorer, earning him a move back to Germany’s top flight.

For Hoffenheim, Bülter will be the third summer signing after the arrival of Julian Justvan from Paderborn and the return of Florian Grillitsch from Ajax. They will be hoping to improve on their disappointing season last term, with head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo heading into his first full season with the Sinsheim-based club.
