According to a recent report by the Daily Record, former Celtic target Kristijan Lovric has conceded that he’s looking to find a move away from Croatia this summer, without being insistent on his eventual transfer destination. The speedster is reportedly available for a fee in the region of £3.5m, and the fact that he has already talked up the British footballing scene will also come as a boost. It has been further claimed in the report that the Celts had scouted the winger last season and that Neil Lennon’s interest in the player could resurface in the coming days.

Although it has been clarified that Kristijan Lovric is looking for a potential Celtic switch, whether or not the Hoops will reignite their desire to acquire the speedster remains to be seen. Speaking on the matter, Lovric said, “Wherever I go, my first priority is always to be playing in the first team. After that, it’s about the quality of the league and the club. Of course, money is important in life, but not crucial. I would love to play for a club in Britain. I think that kind of football would suit me. I follow the Spanish and German leagues, but I would be happy to sign for a big club that doesn’t necessarily play in any of the big five leagues.”

What Kind Of Player Is Kristijan Lovric?

This tall and lanky winger tends to operate mostly on the left flank, but he’s more than capable of playing on the right or even down the middle if required. Standing at a little under 1.9m tall, Lovric isn’t the everyday run-of-the-mill winger. For starters, the attacker boasts excellent upper body strength that he uses to keep opposition defenders at arm’s length, while also possessing the right level of balance required as well. A willing runner with the ball at his feet, the Croat offers a surprising change of pace over the short duration, and he can be deceptively quick for a man of his stature.

The Gorica man is a brilliant dribbler of the ball, and he uses his superior physical abilities to stride past defenders like they’re not even there. Capable of taking on the odd foot-race in the attack, this giant winger undoubtedly has his biggest influence in the opposition box.

Not only does Lovric boast an enormous leap against set-piece situation, but he also has the quality and composure required to deliver them himself too. Another one of the speedster’s standout attributes must be his ability to provide driven crosses from wide, which more often than not, actually end up finding their target. The trickster managed a stellar return of 14 goals and seven assists from his 31 league outings this term.

What Is Celtic’s Current Situation In The Wide Areas?

One of the Celts’ most important pieces of business for this season came in the form of an extended loan deal with Southampton for the services of their mazy winger Mohamed Elyounoussi. James Forrest and Ryan Christie are both capable of producing the goods in the wide areas as well, while the introduction of Karamoko Dembele has come as a breath of fresh air too. The wide areas aren’t one of the positions that Celtic necessarily need to strengthen further in, especially considering that they have the likes of Maryan Shved and Tom Rogic already in their ranks.

Kristijan Lovric Is Looking For A Potential Celtic Switch: Should Lennon Look To Sign Him?

For a team with major shortcomings to win the Premiership title for nine seasons in a row would only be a pipe dream, and what that means is that this Celtic side already has the quality required to compete with all the other teams in the competition. The Croatian wouldn’t necessarily be an upgrade on any of their current first-choice options, meaning that a further £3.5m investment is unlikely. With that said though, Celtic are aiming to pick up their tenth straight league title, and if they ever needed the motivation to sign new players, then the task at hand this season, offers them precisely that.
