Equal with Chelsea and Dr Kunter, an outstanding first half of the season, multinational achievements at national level and no mercy shown for promoted clubs: lots of new records were set in the 2024/25 season.
Eintracht Frankfurt wrote plenty of new chapters in their history last season, and not just by finishing third to qualify for the UEFA Champions League via the Bundesliga for the first time. For example, they enjoyed their best first half of the season since it became three points for a win, racking up 33 points.
The Eagles ticked off a milestone at the end of November in the UEFA Europa League. Their 2-1 win over FC Midtjylland meant that they had gone 18 games unbeaten in this competition – if you include the 1-1 draw in extra time after they had been 1-0 down at the end of the 90 minutes against Real Betis in 2022. This is a record that they’ll continue to have to share with Chelsea, however, after the run ended with a 3-2 defeat away to Lyon.
History made in Herning: Eintracht Frankfurt celebrate the 2-1 win over Midtjylland which stretched their unbeaten run in the Europa League to 18 games, equalling the record for the competition.
In the final match of the league phase on 30 January, Ebu Bekir Is became the youngest Eintracht player of all time and the third-youngest ever to play in a Europa League tie. He was a mere 16 years and 121 days old when he came on as a substitute against AS Roma.
The home-grown talent has yet to make his Bundesliga debut due to injuries suffered in recent months. Nevertheless, nine other Eagles took their first steps in the German top flight in 2024/25:
On top of that, summer recruit Mo Dahoud and winter signing Michy Batshuayi had already tasted life in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, among others. In total, Eintracht now have the highest number of players used across the 56 years of the Bundesliga, with no fewer than 492.
When it comes to different nationalities, the club at the heart of Europe also lead the way. After Arthur Theate became the first Belgian to wear the eagle on his chest in August, players from 60 different countries have now played for Eintracht.
Similarly, the Eagles have had 293 different goalscorers in the Bundesliga – another record.
And speaking of goals: in the first half of the season, Omar Marmoush scored no fewer than 15 of them – an Eintracht record for the Hinrunde, outstripping Theofanis Gekas, who got 14 goals in the first 17 games in 2010/11, and Alexander Meier.
Another African broke a league record when Ellyes Skhiri made it 173 appearances in the top flight on Matchday 32 against Mainz 05. That’s the most of any Tunisian player in the Bundesliga, putting him clear of Karim Haggui, who played 172 games for Hannover, Leverkusen and Stuttgart.
Kevin Trapp kept his 61st Bundesliga clean sheet on Matchday 31 against Leipzig, drawing him level with the club record set by Dr Peter Kunter.
In the last three matches of the season, the club created some other headlines, even if they did come short of breaking records…
Next season, there will be another 34 opportunities in the Bundesliga to keep a clean sheet, while at the other end of the pitch, the Eagles are just three goals away from making it 3,000 in the top flight.
