This week, in Historic Goals, Zidane takes centre stage. The current Real Madrid manager joined the club from Juventus in the summer of 2001, he became symbolic of a glorious period in the club's history and dazzled the fans with his quality and his mastery on the pitch. Zidane also produced that unforgettable volley in the final for la Novena.

On matchday 13 of the 2005/06 league campaign, Real Madrid visited Anoeta to face Real Sociedad. The goal we have chosen this week was the team's second in that game. Zidane picked up a loose ball in the area, controlled it with his right foot and fired a powerful shot into the back of the net with his left.
