This week’s edition of Historic Goals features Roberto Carlos. The Brazilian joined Real Madrid from Inter Milan and went on to become one of the greatest all-time left-backs. Carlos was solid in defence, was extremely dangerous in attack and could certainly strike the ball.
Real Madrid were at the Benito Villamarín stadium on matchday 37 of the LaLiga campaign and the goal we have selected was the team’s first against the Andalusian outfit. The Brazilian collected the ball outside the area and fired a powerful strike that bounced in past the keeper to open the scoring for Madrid. Roberto Carlos made 527 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 69 goals in the process. He won 13 trophies during his time at the club: the European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, four league titles and three Spanish Super Cups.
