The star of this week's instalment of Historic Goals is Fernando Morientes. The forward arrived at Real Madrid in 1997 after impressing with his performances for Real Zaragoza. A fox in the box and strong in the air, he formed part of a terrifying attacking duo alongside Raúl.
In the 2000/01 campaign, Real Madrid visited Osasuna on LaLiga matchday 13. Today's goal was our team's second in a game that finished in a 3-2 win. Hierro sent the ball in behind the defence, where Morientes popped up to bring it down on his chest and fire across goal into the back of the net. Morientes wore the Real Madrid colours for eight seasons, making 272 appearances and scoring 100 goals. His trophy haul includes 11 titles: 3 Champions Leagues, 2 Intercontinental Cups, 1 European Super Cup, 2 LaLiga titles and 3 Spanish Super Cups.
