This week, in Historic Goals, our spotlight is on Hugo Sánchez. He arrived at Real Madrid from Atlético in 1985 and was known for his goalscoring ability and his one-touch finishing. Hugo Sánchez won the Top Goalscorer Award four times and one Golden Boot with Real Madrid.
On matchday four of the 1987/88 LaLiga season, Real Madrid played host to Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Whites won the game 3-0 with the forward netting the last goal with a trademark finish. Míchel took a free kick after the foul on Hugo Sánchez. The cross from the full-back found the head of the Mexican, who leapt in spectacular fashion inside the area to head home first time into the top corner of the opposition goal. Hugo Sánchez played for Real Madrid for 7 seasons, making 282 appearances and scoring 208 goals, helping our club win 10 titles: 1 UEFA Cup, 5 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups.
