Historic Goals: Félix Ruiz
Real Madrid Official
Taking centre stage in the latest instalment of Historic Goals is Félix Ruiz. The midfielder checked in at Real Madrid from Osasuna in the 1961/62 campaign. He earned himself a reputation as a player with immense quality and an eye for goal.
Matchday 17 of the 1963/64 campaign saw Real Madrid welcome Elche to the Santiago Bernabéu and Ruiz’s strike handed the hosts maximum points. Puskas’s cross from the right was flicked on by Amancio and into the path of Ruiz, who planted the ball into the net from around the penalty spot. Ruiz enjoyed an eight-season stint at the club, during which time he racked up 144 competitive appearances and netted 44 times. He lifted the following nine pieces of silverware during his Real Madrid career: a European Cup, seven league titles and a Spanish Cup.
