We reported last week on some quotes from Simon Jordan on TalkSport, who was laying into Jadon Sancho, accusing the winger’s career of “going backwards” and his brief spell of good form at Chelsea earlier this season having flattered to deceive – a common theme in his career so far.
“He’s had a few decent games for Chelsea but other than that, a few decent games for Dortmund. But his career has gone backwards, he’s responsible for it not anyone else and this is the sort of a typical response from people that always like to align other people with the blame or their current failings, ” Jordan said, referring to Sancho gloating about exiting the sinking ship and Man United.
“Players like Jadon Sancho who only like it when they’re told all the good things. They can’t really deal with any home truths or they can’t have any consequences for their actions because if they do, they don’t like it.”

There’s been no hint of bad attitude from Sancho or any question about his training performance. It’s just his showings on the pitch which are a little timid.
In any case, the suspension to Mykhailo Mudryk after a failed doping test combined with an injury to Noni Madueke means that Sancho is all but guaranteed to start in the weeks to come. He really needs to show that he can carry the team now and deliver when we need him most – otherwise the accusations from people like Jordan are going to continue and perhaps even get worse.
We would love to see Jadon seize this chance to be the protagonist, to step and help his team at a critical moment where they need him, and to see him make Jordan eat his words.
Are we confident in that happening though? Probably not.
