Brentford claimed a 7-0 win over Clapton Community in the LSE Division One North on Sunday afternoon at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Karleigh Osborne’s side proved too strong for Clapton with Ashley Cheatley securing a hat-trick on her Gtech debut. Chloe Logie was also in on the goals striking twice with Samantha Read and Nikki Woods also netting in a quality display from the hosts.

The Bees played a back three which consisted of Read, Carolin Englehard and Lucy Potter with Chloe Webb and Maddie Phillips utilised as wing-backs. Mollie Holmes partnered Freya Worsley in the central midfield positions whilst Woods played in behind a front two of Logie and Cheatley.

Competing at the Gtech for only the third time, Brentford started the game as they meant to go on with the hosts finding a goal inside the first 10 minutes of the game.

After Evie Witek worked the ball out to Webb, the left sided wing-back played an excellent pass over the Clapton defence finding Logie who took the ball around Janell Mathurin before passing to Cheatley who stroked home into an empty net.

On nine minutes Brentford made it two this time the goal coming from a corner kick.

A Woods corner was only half cleared away by a Clapton defender with the ball falling for Read who showed good instincts to smash her volley into the roof of the goal, making it two in two games for the defender.

The Bees couldn’t be stopped as they completely blowed Clapton away inside 15 minutes, with Logie netting next to make it 3-0.

This time Cheatley turned provider after breaking through the Clapton defence and squaring the ball to her striker partner who took her goal tally to 12 for the season.

Logie could have made it four on 18 minutes when Phillips found the striker with a pinpoint pass but this time her effort went just wide of the post.

Another chance fell the striker’s way just before the half hour mark as Logie continued to get the better of Clapton centre-back Alice Sharpe.

This time the forward made room for a shot from just inside the box only for her strike to hit the inside of the left post before being gathered by the keeper.

Despite their slow start to the game, Clapton began to work the ball forward well as the first half entered the final 15 minutes.

Witek was called into action after Mim Chadwick unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, the Brentford keeper leaped well to tip the ball over the bar in acrobatic fashion.

Brentford’s back three remained solid with Engelhard making an impressive block just before the half-time whistle was blown, denying Marta Perez from close range.

Clapton came out of the blocks well after the break, with the visitors disappointed not to have pulled a goal back five minutes into the second half.

Half-time substitute Maria Mendonca had a free header inside the Brentford box, but the forward mistimed the ball with her effort going wide.

The Bees made Clapton pay for their missed opportunities with Cheatley scoring her second of the game on 55 minutes.

The striker remained composed after receiving the ball inside the box finding the bottom left corner with a low driven strike.

Brentford enjoyed large spells of possession following their fourth goal of the game and continued to work the ball forwards in search of a fifth.

Woods was next to strike for the home side with Cheatley continuing to stretch the visitor’s defence.

The striker used her pace to beat Clapton left-back Ana Holmes on the touchline before pulling the ball back to Woods, who found the bottom right corner with a neat finish.

Cheatley secured her hat-trick on 81 minutes finishing low and hard inside the Clapton box wrapping up a perfect day for the striker.

The Bees weren’t done there with Logie scoring the side’s seventh before the full-time whistle was blown, the goal marking six for the striker at the Gtech.

Osborne’s side controlled the ball for the remaining minutes of the match cruising to another Gtech win.

Karleigh Osborne on another memorable Gtech win

Brentford Women head coach praised his side following another win at the Gtech Community Stadium with the Bees continuing their unbeaten start to the season following the win over Clapton Community.

He said: “I’m over the moon with the result and the second half performance especially, I’m super proud of this group we constantly challenge them as staff, and they just keep on getting better.

“We have a real ruthlessness about us and we find ways to keep scoring goals, with the front two that we’ve got it’s extremely dangerous.”

Osborne went on to talk about how he felt being back in the Gtech dugout for the third time.

“Every single time we’ve been to the Gtech I try my best not to get caught up in the day,” said Osborne.

“Ultimately, it’s about the players and I want them to understand what it means to the club to have them here, it’s important that we make every time special."

Samantha Read buzzing following victory

Brentford Women centre-back Samantha Read put on an excellent defensive performance at the Gtech and also managed to grab another goal.

Speaking on her goal, Read said: “Nikki always puts in a great ball, so I always put myself near the keeper and I managed to get the scraps and struck it home.

“It’s a great feeling scoring at the Gtech, as a centre-half you don’t usually get them chances so I make sure I take them when I can.”

Read, who works for the club as operations executive, went on to talk about how incredible it feels to play a part in another big day for Brentford Women.

She said: “It’s so special, we had the men’s game yesterday and then today seeing so many fans come down to support, it’s just great to witness and be a part of."
