Celtic were beaten by Hearts on a controversial afternoon in Edinburgh. The Scottish Champions played the vast majority of the game with ten men after Yang was given his marching orders by John Beaton on VAR while the official at Clydesdale House also instructed Don Robertson to award a penalty in the most scandalous of circumstances.

Hearts benefited from the spotkick with Jorge Grant putting the hosts 1-0 up. In the second half, Lawrence Shankland slotted a fortunate break of the ball beyond Joe Hart to double the lead for Steven Naismith’s side. It was an uphill battle for Brendan Rodgers’ side after the red card but had Adam Idah netted from his spot kick it could have been an entirely different afternoon.

After the game, Brendan quite properly called Beaton out while stating that he attempted to speak with Robertson, only to be blanked by the whistler. The club should follow the manager’s comments by making enquiries with the SFA about why the decisions were given against Celtic as it is clear that both impacted the result of the game.

For Celtic, however, the focus switches to next weekend’s Scottish Cup clash against Livingston before returning to League action against St Johnstone at Celtic Park.
