Brentford B were beaten 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon by AS Monaco Croupe Elite in a behind-closed-doors fixture

The young Bees who have travelled to the French Riviera played the first of two fixtures on foreign soil coming up against an AS Monaco side who found themselves three goals up an hour in. Ashley Hay netted with 10 minutes to play to pull a goal back for the Bees but Monaco later extended their lead to confirm the win.

Brentford showed early signs of dominance and looked like a threat in attacking positions, the visiting side had a good early chance to get themselves in front when a deep cross from the right flank found Isaac Holland at the far post, but the winger was unable to turn his header towards goal.

Ethan Brierley also came close for Brentford early on when Erion Zabeli was strong in a challenge to win the ball on the halfway line before attempting to lob the Monaco keeper with a long-distance shot which did not go too far wide.

Monaco scored their first on 21 minutes when Michal Lucas profited from a long ball over the Brentford defence and neatly tucked his shot into the bottom corner.

The home side’s forward doubled Monaco’s lead not long after, chipping the ball over Vincent Angelini this time from close range following a cross from Nazim Babai.

Brentford made a good start to the second half and was building momentum as Neil MacFarlane’s side was beginning to enjoy some good spells of possession.

As Brentford worked their way up pitch the next goal was always going to be an important one.

Monaco found their third against the run of play, this time a strike from Madou Coulibaly who was first on scene to pass home the rebound following an initial save from Angelini.

The young Bees got their deserved goal on 80 minutes when substitute Kyreece Lisbie, who was making his first appearance since last April, set up Ashley Hay.

The forward showed great skill to turn past his man on the right flank before making his way into the box before finding Hay with a cutback pass who tucked the ball home.

Monaco hindered any chance of a Brentford comeback though, with Salatiel Decarpentrie making it 4-1 and sealing the win for his side.
