It seems Bryan Oviedo will leave Sunderland before the start of the season to join Belgian side Club Brugge.
The defender has made no secret of his desire to move on following successive relegations and a failure to secure promotion from League One.
Belgian outlet Voetbal24 report that a deal is ‘as good as complete’ and will be finalised within the next week.
An additional report in Oviedo’s homeland of Costa Rica, on Teletica, claimed that the deal should go through on Monday or Tuesday.
Brugge have long been admirers of the former Everton man and are now finally set to secure his services.
Oviedo is among the highest earners of the Stadium of Light, earning a reported £25,000 per week.
Both the Belgian side and West Bromwich Albion have came up short in the past 12 months with attempts to sign him.
The move will likely result in extended playing time for promising Black Cats youngster Denver Hume.
