Under a week after his arrival, Romain Molina reported that Gift Orban (21) was causing unrest in the Olympique Lyonnais dressing room. Club captain Alexandre Lacazette (32) has now responded.

According to Molina, the €12m signing was causing problems at Lyon with his attitude in training being called into question. The French journalist claimed that the Nigerian forward had shown anger issues during his opening days at the Ligue 1 strugglers. Molina even accused OL of failing to do their due diligence on the player’s background, given that these issues were also present at the player’s previous clubs.

Lacazette jumps to Orban’s defence

Orban made his debut during last weekend’s 3-2 defeat against Stade Rennais. The Nigerian came on at half-time with Les Gones 3-0 down at the time.

Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Lacazette has come to Orban’s defence and praised the character of his new teammate. “He’s quite funny. He says a lot of things ironically. For those that didn’t that didn’t figure him out at the start, it may have seemed a bit weird, but he has a lot of humour. He is hungry to progress, help the team and score goals,” said the former Arsenal forward.
