Former EFL star Adrian Clarke has claimed that Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is better than Kobbie Mainoo and he would have probably played for England by now if he was a Manchester United player.

Crystal Palace spent considerable money to snare Wharton away from Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window.

He has made an impact since his arrival at Selhurst Park and has wasted little time in cementing a place in the starting eleven.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been excelling under Oliver Glasner and Clarke stressed that he is a better player than the much-heralded Manchester United academy product Mainoo.

The Red Devil made his England debut in March and the former EFL star feels Wharton would have played for the Three Lions by now if he was wearing the Manchester United colours.

“I think if he was wearing a United shirt, he would have already made his England debut.”

Mainoo has been a certainty in the Manchester United starting eleven since he returned from injury in December.
