Olympique de Marseille and RC Strasbourg Alsace played out a tense and fiery draw at the Stade Vélodrome on Sunday evening (1-1). There were several encounters between the players throughout the match and the bad blood looked to continue into the post-match exchanges.
The Strasbourg goalscorer, Emanuel Emegha (21), was left unimpressed by his opposite number Leonardo Balerdi (25). Speaking after the game at the DAZN microphone, Emegha dismissed the Marseille captain’s performance, “He couldn’t catch me, so he tried to speak to me, tried to foul me. He’s a little man.”
Emegha had the chance to double his tally for the night late in the game and score the winning goal. However, the Dutchman was unable to show his killer instinct at the second time of asking, “We deserved to win. If I had scored the second, it would have been different.”
Neither side left the Vélodrome happy with the result. Both sides will see this draw as two points lost. Marseille would remain in second regardless of the outcome but the gap between them and Paris Saint-Germain stretched to nine points. While, Strasbourg remain seven points off the Champions League places.
