Bruno Fernandes believes Manchester United teammate Raphael Varane is a ‘leader’

Speaking in an interview (h/t Metro), Bruno Fernandes has hailed the impact brought about by Manchester United teammate Raphael Varane since his move last month.

The French international joined the Old Trafford outfit in a £34million after spending a gloriously decorated decade at Real Madrid. At 28, Varane still has a lot to give and perhaps has it in him to win the biggest trophies.

The centre-back has already slotted into the club’s starting lineup alongside Harry Maguire and is a huge reason for United’s 4th place position in the table currently, just a point below 1st placed Liverpool.

Bruno Fernandes has now heaped praise on his teammate and has also pointed out the Frenchman’s mentality. He told reporters in an interview (h/t Metro):

‘Of course, he’s a winner. Everyone knows that. He’s a nice guy and works really hard, and is always pushing everyone to do better. I think he has a great mentality, but at the same time, we cannot forget the other players.’

Fernandes also revealed Varane is a ‘leader’.

‘Rapha is really important for us, and has been really important for us, but the main point is everyone being okay to do the best that they can. Still, he’s a little bit shy in some ways, because it’s the beginning for him at United, but I think he’s a leader.’
