The star of the show for the home side – once again – was Lamine Yamal, who opened the scoring in fine style with a curling effort from outside of the penalty box.

Despite only being 17 years of age, Lamine Yamal continues to prove himself as one of the most impressive players in La Liga. He’s wowed opposition fans and managers alike over the last 12 months, and that has continued with Ernesto Valverde.

Speaking post-match (via Sport), Valverde surrendered to Lamine Yamal, and in the process, re-ignited the comparisons with a certain Argentine icon.

“With Lamine Yamal it’s unpredictable to know where he’s going to do things. He’s a bit like with Messi, they do things that you just can’t stop.”

The Lamine Yamal-Lionel Messi comparisons have been frequent over the last 12 months. Barcelona will be keen to continue protecting their superstar from the added pressure that comes with this.
