The Saudi Arabian Football Federation has confirmed the departure of manager Hervé Renard on Tuesday.

The 54-year-old is reportedly set to sign on as the new manager of France’s women’s national team following the departure of Corinne Diacre due to player disputes.

Renard famously led Saudi Arabia to a 2-1 win over Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Multiple big-name stars, such as Wendie Renard and Marie Antoinette Katoto, resigned from the France national team because of the squad atmosphere leading to Diacre’s exit and the vacant position.

Hervé Renard remains the front runner for the job and according to AFP, is “determined to return to France to lead a national team there.”

France will participate at the Women’s World Cup this summer but has a series of friendlies coming up, the first against Colombia on 7 April.
