L’Équipe report today that Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin are interested in signing Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo, who ended his first season in Ligue 1 with 14 goals.

The 24-year-old confirmed in an interview with the outlet earlier this month that his desire was to leave. The player and club had already agreed to a transfer before this past season amid interest from Bordeaux, but a move never materialised. He instead signed a contract extension until 2024, along with a guarantee he would be allowed to move this summer.

Hertha, who survived relegation this season by beating Hamburg in the playoff, are the team that are closest to securing a transfer.

An offer is yet to be made, with Clermont not setting any asking price in particular, but they do expect a fee which would be above the €10m they sold Adrian Grbić to Lorient for.

Other clubs have made their interest known, notably fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, with ex-Marseille man and French scout Jean-Philippe Durand working for the club to keep an eye on the French market. The player himself has no preference with regard to his destination, although he feels he is ready to discover a new league, unless a more attractive French club comes up with an offer. Lille have made an enquiry in the last few days.
