If there were any Tottenham fans who couldn’t get on board with VAR before this game, they will surely be singing its praises now.

Were it not for video technology, City would have nicked it in stoppage time, but VAR intervened to correctly rule Sergio Agüero offside.

Aymeric Laporte has been near-flawless for City all season but it was his two errors in quick succession which resulted in Spurs’ first and second goals, and there’s an argument to say he lost Fernando Llorente for the third.

Uncharacteristic but at this level, these things happen to even the best players.
