Fabinho was mightily impressive in midfield on a night when Liverpool weren’t at their free-flowing best.

He kept things tight and moved them along when he had to.

Well and truly into his stride now, the Brazilian will be a pivotal figure in the semi-final battles with Barcelona.

The defending for all of the goals was poor and preventable, particularly the latter two in which players were given the freedom of the box to head home.
