Liverpool are set to confirm the signing of a second player to bolster their youth ranks as journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms the deal is done.

The Reds are said to have completed the Premier League's five step investigation programme for 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha. He becomes Liverpool's third signing of the summer.

The Academy is said to have had their eyes on the player, securing a deal in June that enables Ngumoha to swap Stamford Bridge for Anfield.

Liverpool.com is reporting that Chelsea, having not been able to secure Ngumoha with a scholarship deal, is now set to receive a compensation fee from the reds for the striker.

Liverpool plans to integrate him into Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's Under-18s group for the upcoming season.

Ngumoha is the second 16-year-old to make the move to Merseyside following Alvin Ayman from Wolves.

Ngumhoa says farewell to Chelsea

Ngumhoa expressed his gratitude to his former club via Instagram: "Thank you for everything Chelsea Academy," said Ngumoha.

He was said to be highly thought of at Cobham and had been training with the Chelsea first-team.

Chelsea are reportedly unhappy to let the young forward join Liverpool on a low fee. However, the deal aligns with the policy set by Academy director Alex Inglethorpe and the  player will be on a scholarship wage at Kirkby.

Ngumoha opted to leave the Blues after he saw an uncertain path into the senior team.

It is hoped the forward will be able to join the Reds set-up in a matter of weeks.

Liverpool's recent history of promoting academy players to the first team was a significant factor in the decision, with the 2024 Carabao Cup final serving as an ideal illustration of the contrasting strategies at both clubs.

Ngumoha has taken to social media to confirm his signing at Anfield. He will wear number 11 for the Reds, following in the footsteps of another former Chelsea forward Mohamed Salah.
