Fulham have agreed a deal to sign Manchester United midfield target Sander Berge, according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano.

It’s believed that reinforcing the midfield before transfer deadline days is a priority for United and Berge was one of United’s options alongside other stars like Martin Zubimendi, Youssouf Fofana and Manuel Ugarte.

Earlier today, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United lodged a bid for Berge, which was turned down by Burnley.

It was stated that Burnley were holding out for £30 million, for a player they acquired for only £12 million a year ago.

Berge was left out of Burnley’s matchday squads for their first two Championship clashes, with manager Scott Parker insisting that his exclusion was a precaution due to injury concerns.

If United harboured any hopes of landing Berge, they may now have been firmly dashed. According to Romano, Fulham have struck a deal with the Clarets for the Norway international.

Romano added that as a result of Fulham closing in on a transfer for Berge, the Cottagers have ended their pursuit of Scott McTominay.

Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Fulham have agreed deal to sign Sander Berge from Burnley, here we go!”

“McTominay deal off as Berge joins on £20m plus £5m fee, medical booked for the midfielder.”

Moments before Romano’s “here we go”, The Athletic wrote, “Fulham are close to completing the signing of Burnley midfielder Sander Berge. The west London club have agreed to pay a fee worth £20million plus £5m in potential add-ons.”

“The 26-year-old and his agent Morten Wivestad are travelling to London for a medical on Tuesday before finalising his move to Craven Cottage. Personal terms with the player are already in place.”

United beat Fulham 1-0 at Old Trafford last Friday in the Red Devils’ Premier League opener of the 2024/25 season.
