Mats Rots has dropped out of the Netherlands Under-19 due to an injury. The Heracles Almelo left-back may therefore miss the Heraclieden’s clash with his older brother Daan, and his current employer FC Twente on Sunday.
The currently unknown injury means Rots will miss the international match against European Championship qualifying pool leaders Czechia today.
The 19-year-old Twente loanee will be examined in Almelo on Thursday, which will show to what extent he will be available in the coming weeks, as can be read on the club website.
As said, Rots will have to skip the meeting with the Czech Republic. The Czechs are at the top of the European Championship qualifying group C, after beating Croatia (1-0) and Luxembourg (0-2). The Netherlands previously got the better of the Croatians (2-1), but were held to a goalless draw against the Luxembourgers. Oranje are therefore in second place with four points.
The Netherlands and the Czech Republic will face each other on Tuesday afternoon. The winner of that duel will qualify for the European Under-19 Championship. Only one team per group will advance to the final tournament. This will take place in Romania from 13 to 26 June.
