Henry Martín insisted América are taking nothing for granted after registering a narrow victory over Tigres on Saturday.
The Azulcrema were already in pole position in the Apertura table before Martín’s 53rd-minute volley at the Estadio Azteca sent Santiago Solari’s side 11 points clear of nearest challengers Atlas.
That means Las Águilas are guaranteed to finish in first place, but the matchwinner is keen for América to maintain their positive momentum heading into the play-offs.
“The most important thing here is that (to finish as leaders) and we continue to take a strong step, a firm step and show that the team is solid,” Martín said, per MARCA Claro.
“Whoever plays the team is doing very well, that is the most important and good thing. It is accompanied by goal, a lot of joy and a lot of emotion for me.”
With just two games left in the regular Liga MX season, América’s attention will switch to their Concacaf Champions League final against fellow Mexican side Monterrey on Thursday.
