According to Foot Mercato, Henrique (29) could be set to leave Lyon on a free transfer with his contract expiring at the end of June 2024. With the January transfer window now in full swing, the Brazilian left-back is able to discuss a transfer with other clubs as a free agent because there is less than six months remaining on his contract at the Groupama Stadium. A sale in January though still remains a possibility.

Henrique’s current situation is attracting the interest of clubs both in Europe and back in his home nation of Brazil. Standard Liège and Lyon’s sister club Botafogo are both interested in the prospect of signing the former Vasco da Gama full-back, according to Foot Mercato. Lyon signed Henrique from Vasco da Gama in 2021 and is happy to stay at the Rhône club until the end of the season.

A sale would mean Lyon sign a replacement

If Lyon were to sell Henrique in the January transfer window, they would be forced to dip into the transfer window to sign a replacement, Foot Mercato report. Lyon only have Nicolás Tagliafico as another senior option at left back. It has already been a busy winter window for OL with four arrivals to date as they look to secure their Ligue 1 status.
