A number of Sunderland supporters have heaped praise on Leon Dajaku following his performance in the Black Cats’ penalty shootout win against QPR in the Last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

Lee Johnson’s side went into the game aiming to make it into the last eight of the League Cup and cause something of a cup upset against their Championship opponents.

That is what they were able to eventually do after the game remained goalless after the 90 minutes, with penalties deciding the contest as Sunderland converted three of their spot-kicks to the Rs’ one to advance to the next round.

Dajaku was handed his first start since he returned from the international break with an injury.

He was able to deliver a promising performance for the Black Cats with him constantly running at his full-back and trying to make things happen going forwards.

There were occasions where he did not pick the right pass or option with his end product in the last third, but overall it was a positive showing from the promising 20-year-old.

Have Sunderland had a higher or lower average attendance compared to these 23 sides this season?

Many Sunderland fans felt Dajaku showed enough against QPR to suggest he could be a major threat to League One defences if handed more game time by Johnson.

Here, we take a look at some of the best reactions on social media…
