Bristol Rovers have enjoyed a mixed campaign in League One this term.

The Gas seem to go through patches of strong form and then seem to proceed through some dodgy runs of form, something that they are enduring at the moment after four consecutive league losses.

Any chances of a play-off finish do look pretty slim given the 13 point buffer between them and sixth placed Barnsley, so attention will firmly be on finishing this campaign as strongly as possible.

One of the Gas’ shining lights this season has undoubtedly been attacker Aaron Collins.

The 25-year-old has a whopping 24 goal involvements this season having scored 14 and assisted 10, putting him in second place in the League One top scorer charts behind Peterborough’s Jonson Clarke-Harris.

True False

With such an impressive season under his belt so far, transfer interest could naturally build in the Newport-born forward and we asked FLW’s Bristol Rovers fan pundit Steve Hutson whether he thinks Collins will still be a Rovers player this time next year.

Here’s what he had to say: “I think if Rovers are still a League One side this time next year then it would certainly be sensible for Rovers to be looking to cash in on Aaron Collins, with him still under contract until 2025.

“It’s not good for the player or for the club to hold him to running down his contract unless he extends, I think obviously if we get promoted then there’s a good chance he will stay with us.

“He’s certainly become a legend at Rovers and he’d be sorely missed, especially for his climbing the lampost antics after promotion!”

A player who would be seriously missed if he did depart then, one of Joey Barton’s main priorities this summer could well be ensuring their talismanic attacker remains at the Memorial Stadium.
