Arsenal defender Héctor Bellerín is reportedly ‘ahead of schedule’ in his recovery from knee surgery.

Bellerín ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Chelsea in January and was expected to be out for nine months.

According to Guardian Sport, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a smooth rehabilitation and could even start training soon.

It’s understood that Bellerín has earmarked the visit of Aston Villa (September 22) for his official comeback.

The former Barça right-back was a key figure under Unai Emery before his injury, assisting six Premier League goals.

Academy graduate Ainsley-Maitland Niles will continue in his absence despite seeing his long-term future in midfield.
