Celtic could now also face competition from Hearts for the signature of West Ham United midfielder Andy Irving, according to ExWHUemployee.
Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers wants to get another midfielder beyond Arne Engels in through the building before the window slams shut.
A number of options are under consideration and West Ham’s Irving is one that Rodgers would like to sign, with Celtic having been working on a loan.
Clubs from Austria and Spain are also interested in Irving, but the race also may also now involve another Scottish club.
Edinburgh side Hearts are considering a move to snap Irving up on a loan deal.
The Tynecastle club, like Celtic, can also offer European football as they are into the league stage of the Conference League.
Which solution Irving and West Ham feel is best remains to be seen, but they are likely to prioritise playing time.
Hearts may hope that gives them an edge over other sides in the race, but the clock is ticking.
