Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Sammy Ameobi on a free transfer following his Nottingham Forest exit.
The 29-year-old’s contract at Nottingham Forest expired this week, officially bringing his two-year spell at the City Ground to an end.
The winger was one of seven players to be let go by the Reds, as Chris Hughton looks to reshape his squad ahead of next season.
Ameobi made 81 appearances for the Reds, scoring eight goals and registering 11 assists across all competitions, but a return to the North East has now been confirmed.
Boro announced yesterday that Ameobi had returned to the club, having spent time on loan at the Riverside from Newcastle in 2013.
Forest fans have since reacted to the news, with many sending Ameobi their best wishes having returned to the place he grew up.
On a personal note, it’s a good move for Ameobi, and there is also a feeling amongst Forest fans that he should have been retained having largely failed to let them down during his time at the club.
Here, we take a look at Forest fans’ reactions to Ameobi’s Boro move…
