‘Heading in the right direction’… Fabrizio Romano provides an update on the renewal of Hansi Flick at Barcelona | OneFootball

So far this season, FC Barcelona have been thoroughly impressed by the arrival of Hansi Flick. Considered a risky move by some early on, the appointment of the German coach has ended up being quite successful. While titles are still on the line, his progression at Barcelona has been astounding so far.

Coming into a team that was seen as a promising project rather a major contender in the present, Flick has managed to completely turn around expectations regarding the Catalan club. Consequently, as shared by Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, Barcelona and Hansi Flick’s camp are both involved in negotiating a potential renewal for him as it stands. Moreover, the Italian journalist has stated that all involved parties are looking to extend:

“There are conversations ongoing between the agents of Hansi Flick, and the coach is also directly in contact with Joan Laporta and Deco. Things are headed in the right direction, and they want to prepare this new contract.”

Romano also touched on the attitude of Hansi Flick when it comes to his renewal, and just how professional he has been so far as he continues to focus on managing the team on the pitch:

“Also Hansi Flick is having a really special attitude in this case, he’s not pushing and he’s not desperate for this new deal. He’s relaxed and fully focused on winning titles, he knows how important it is to be focused until the final minute of every game.”

As for his contract, that duty has been left with his agents:

Currently, the feelings surrounding the entire operation are positive. Moreover, as per Romano’s understanding, Barcelona will likely end up being successful in their pursuit of getting Flick to sign an extension:

“It is important to understand the timing. It’s not something that’s gonna happen in the coming days, it’s gonna take some time. But the intention of all parties involved is to sign for another year, until 2027 for one more season, and my understanding is that there are very good chances to make it happen.”

For right now, however, the German coach has three major titles to chase. The first of those will be the Copa del Rey, a title for which Barcelona are soon set to kick off their game against Real Madrid.
