Neymar Jr. (32) has dropped a huge hint that his future lies in his home country of Brazil, reports Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte via Foot Mercato.

The former Paris Saint-Germain man is in Brazil on holiday whilst he recovers from a cruciate ligament injury that has kept him out of contention for Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal since October. Invited as a guest of the administration council of hometown club Santos, the club where the Brazilian star began his career, he arrived an hour before the final of the Campeonato Paulista between them and Palmeiras, who count Real Madrid bound Endrick amongst their ranks.

After a motivational speech and prayer in the dressing room, the Selecao’s all-time leading goalscorer was presented on the pitch for a ceremony paying tribute to Pelé, the other legendary figure of Santos’ history, during which Ney gave a short speech that has sparked columns and rumours throughout Brazil:

“I am emotional and honoured to be welcomed back home. It’s amazing, I miss playing here and feeling the atmosphere.”

Santos president Marcelo Texeira has made no secret of his desire to bring Neymar back to Brazil, recently going on record to confirm his intentions:

“Neymar will come back to Santos. I don’t know when, it depends on him, but I really believe in him coming back and I am trying to find a solution to bring him back. Regardless of his age, the possibility of a return is big. No one imagined that he wouldn’t play for nearly a whole season. He has a two-year contract with Al-Hilal, and no one knows what the future holds, but I really believe in his return.”

Rumours in Brazil indicate that the Brazilian has given his word to return to his home country ahead of the 2025 Brazilian season, going against what current club Al-Hilal understands to be true, which is an extra year with the Saudi league leaders as a form of compensation for his injury-hit season in which he has featured just five times.
