James has appeared in every Premier League game for United this campaign and against the Cityzens, he came up with another solid display where he was effective on both ends of the field.

James contributed the assist for Anthony Martial’s strike which made it 2-0 in the opening half and that eventually proved the match winner with the Cityzens managing just one goal in the form of a consolation.

Speaking to Premier League productions, Schmeichel was hugely impressed with the young winger and particularly highlighted his work-rate and desire to track back and support Aaron Wan-Bissaka in defence.

“Someone who is not going to grab the headlines is Daniel James. He was unbelievable, chasing every ball, he was in every counterattack and, at the same time, he was doubling up with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka on the right-hand side. That’s a fantastic signing and he played fantastic,” he told via Goal.com.

James has bagged three goals and four assists in the Premier League this term. Aside from his goalscoring contribution, he has impressed with his quick pace on the counter-attack and is probably unfortunate that his crosses from out wide have not been converted into goals more regularly.

United’s next game comes against AZ Alkmaar at Old Trafford and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will definitely consider making changes. Still, the Norwegian may not go with a youthful side like in the previous matchday, given a defeat could see them unseeded and possibly face one of the teams dropping down from the Champions League.
